Africa’s Cannabis Boom – Millions of Dollars in Foreign Investment set to Pour into South Africa
Globally cannabis business is huge, and in South Africa, millions of rand are pouring into the country as this seedling industry moves from pre-dawn to sunrise. Now global crowd-growing platform, JuicyFields, is expanding into the Southern African region and is providing opportunities for local cannabis projects.
Johannesburg, 8 November 2021: Cannabis is big business, and the global cannabis business community is now focused on South Africa ahead of The Cannabis Expo that takes place next week at Sandton Convention Centre.
“Millions of dollars are pouring into South Africa right now,” says expo director Silas Howarth. “Global cannabis companies have woken up to the reality that Southern Africa has the potential to supply the world with quality cannabis and cannabis products at competitive prices. We have such huge opportunities here in South Africa to be global suppliers, but we need the funds to build businesses and to scale up and take advantage of these opportunities while they are hot, that is where companies like JuicyFields come in.”
JuicyFields, a medicinal cannabis crowd-growing platform that connects ‘e-growers’ with licensed producers and distributors from around the world, is expanding its presence in South Africa through its partnership with The Cannabis Expo.
“The JuicyFields platform allows anyone with spare funds to participate in the industry, and with less risk, by removing the usual barriers to entry such as licensing, costs, cultivation and distribution expertise,” says JuicyFields CEO Alan Glanse. “This revolutionary model leverages the power of crowdsourcing to bring opportunities to commercial cultivation operations in key low-cost regions. It is through this upliftment that these regions derive economic benefit at a community level, where the funds enter the supply chain and unlock value in that area.”
JuicyFields have already partnered with and is invested in licensed local cultivator Canna Yeza, based in Lanseria close to Johannesburg, as well as with Canna Trade Africa, owners of The Green Side health and wellness cannabis venues. They are now operating in the region, and hope to meet many more potential partners looking to grow their cannabis businesses here and across Africa.
“We intend on bringing millions of dollars of foreign funds to projects across Southern Africa,” says Glanse. “We are excited to get to The Cannabis Expo and meet with people looking for investments for their cannabis businesses.”
The Cannabis Expo presented by JuicyFields takes place 18 to 21 November at the Sandton Convention Centre, and JuicyFields will be front-and-center with a full team looking forward to meeting and interacting with local visitors and cannabis business leaders, and future cannabis entrepreneurs.

Founded in 2019, JuicyFields initially focused on conducting research on cannabis science and marketing, gaining the knowledge and skills needed to build a platform that allows everyone and anyone to ‘grow’ cannabis and participate without having to touch the plants. They have subsequently expanded, with the arrival of veteran growers and engineers.
JuicyFields is now expanding its presence in South Africa. South Africa’s medical cannabis industry is rapidly establishing, and global demand for medical cannabis is growing with more countries hoping to take advantage of the business opportunities and revenue this new crop and market can bring. In April of 2021, South Africa proposed a draft National Cannabis Master plan with the aim of loosening its regulations on the cannabis industry with hopes of boosting economic recovery.
The South African government’s plan focuses on creating jobs and amending current legislation to remove constraints on the commercial cannabis and hemp market. One of the priorities included in this plan is the signing of the Cannabis for Private Purpose Bill into law by 2023. JuicyFields is setting itself up to be at the forefront of this medical cannabis industry.
